World premieres in Barcelona

Mannheim, February 9, 2010 – Professionals attending the 14th DENTSPLY Friadent World Symposium in Barcelona on March 19-20, 2010, will not only experience a comprehensive continuing education program with around 100 internationally known lecturers but will also have the opportunity to examine new and innovative DENTSPLY Friadent products. The new scientific poster prize and a separate podium will provide space for presentations on current topics from the field of research, such as periimplantitis and digital dentistry. For the first time DENTSPLY Friadent will be showing live presentations of ExpertEase instruments for computer-guided implant placement with ANKYLOS. The company, which supplies all types of implant solutions, will also be presenting innovative options for digital prosthetics and information on autogenous bone grafting.

The DENTSPLY Friadent World Symposium will be the medium for the introduction of the new ExpertEase instruments for ANKYLOS. This will make the advantages of the ExpertEase software, predictable treatment planning, accurate guided surgery, and the depth stops integrated in the sleeve-on-drill system available for all ANKYLOS users and their patients. ExpertEase has been in successful use with the XiVE system since 2009.

New paths in implant prosthetics individualized for the patient
In the field of prosthetics DENTSPLY Friadent will be presenting abutments of titanium and zirconium oxide that can be shaped as desired based on a digital scan for fast and uncomplicated production of crowns and bridges individualized for the patient. The individual design of the abutments can be more accurately shaped for the desired shape of the final crowns and bridges. The system also offers optimum soft-tissue management, because the emergence profile can be shaped in three dimensions specifically for the individual patient – for maximum esthetic requirements and satisfied patients. The CAD/CAM-milled structures, which are also available, give partially edentulous and edentulous patients perfectly fitted screw-retained bridges and removable bar prostheses at the first trial fitting. The centralized computer-controlled process for manufacturing the framework with the collaboration of the laboratory in the initial and final design and a case-specific milling strategy allows accuracy that would not be possible with manual casting methods.

Optimum lighting conditions in the mouth
DENTSPLY Friadent will be presenting new FRIOS handpieces and contra-angles with LED technology that provides an optimum view of the surgical site for all implant surgery and grafting procedures. The independent instrument light source has an integrated generator, which powers the LEDs independently of the treatment unit and eliminates the requirement for an external power source. The daylight-quality LED light is also brighter and has a longer service life than conventional halogen lights.

Users will be able to experience the numerous product innovations in lectures by internationally experienced clinicians and scientists at two simultaneously operating platforms. For more detailed examinations of the innovations there will be additional satellite presentations, hands-on workshops in the large exhibition area, and in workshops. An independent professional jury in conjunction with the European Journal of Oral Implantology will present the scientific poster awards for scientific presentations
