PEPGEN P-15 combines organic and inorganic building blocks with one goal: initiation and acceleration of natural bone regeneration. The organic component is formed from a synthetically manufactured amino acid sequence (P-15), which is responsible for cell bonding and thus initiation of the formation of new bone. The other component is the inorganic constituent, formed from a calcium-phosphate matrix, which acts as a carrier for the amino acid sequence. Together they form the ideal prerequisite for the deposition of cells required for bone regeneration.

PEPGEN P-15 is the first and only bone replacement material that combines the organic and inorganic components of autologous bone and perfectly mimics the cell-bonding sequence of type I collagen by the synthetic P-15: 

  • Cell bonding: All cells in the body, except for the blood cells, must be bonded to collagen before they can fulfill their physiological functions. PEPGEN P-15 accelerates the bonding of cells to the particle matrix and initiates the cascade of events that results in the formation of new bone.
  • Cell differentiation: Differentiation occurs when a cell responds to biomechanical signals and starts releasing growth factors. The growth process of a cell starts.
  • Formation of new bone: PEPGEN P-15 has been proven to cause differentiation of a variety of different fibroblasts to bone-forming stem cells. It supports the physiological processes that result in the formation of new bone.
