ANKYLOS C/X – The New Generation
04-18-2008 | Long-term retention of tissue and excellent esthetics
All the advantages of an implant system backed by 20 years of clinical success combined with an innovation that is unique to implantology: this is ANKYLOS C/X. The new ANKYLOS generation offers the option of indexed and non-indexed prosthetics in only one implant and also has newly designed prosthetics, a completed redesigned placement procedure, and a new package design. ANKYLOS C/X leaves it up to the dentist to decide whether to use the index to assist with positioning if that makes the prosthetic delivery easier. Or use the tapered connection geometry without index if this is required by the prosthetic design. The abutment remains rotation-locked in both cases with the full-surface keyed and locked taper, and the combination options remain open: every abutment fits into every implant.
ANKYLOS C/X – permanent esthetic success with a perfect connection
ANKYLOS C/X with its redesign guarantees long-term tissue retention and a long-term esthetic result with the fully keyed and rotation-locked ANKYLOS TissueCare Connection with the outstanding stability of the implant-abutment connection, which is as good as a single-component implant system. There is virtually no movement between implant and abutment, which almost completely eliminates mechanical irritation. Gap formation between implant and abutment is also minimized, which can prevent bacterial colonization. And finally the geometry of the TissueCare Connection displaces the transition between implant and abutment to a central position. This inherent platform-shifting establishes a wide horizontal base on the implant shoulder for stable deposition of hard and soft tissue. The interaction of all these factors establishes genuine TissueCare, which means the desired long-term tissue retention and reliable long-term esthetics.
Outstanding esthetic results with new prosthetics
Every indication requires its own restoration. The new ANKYLOS Regular C/ and /X prosthetic abutment components takes feedback from dental technicians into account. An enlarged abutment head helps reduce casting problems. The reversed, now convex, sulcus geometry offers more options for customization and offers an improved emergence profile. The sulcus heights of 0.75 mm to 4.5 mm now have angulations up to 37.5 degrees. All abutments are prepared for a multifunctional snap-on cap. The prosthetic components are marked with C/ for taper for the non-indexed type and /X for the indexed type. All components marked C/X can be used for both types.
Accurate placement with simple insertion procedure
ANKYLOS C/X has a step between the implant and the placement head. This helps the surgeon to position the implant accurately. With a subcrestal implant position a margin on the placement head 1 mm above the implant shoulder provides an indication of the implant depth. In a flapless procedure another groove at 3 mm allows the thickness of the gingiva to be estimated. In contrast to the former adapter screw, the new placement head is inserted directly into the taper. This makes the connection between placement head and instrument more stable and more secure when screwing in the implant. The cover screw for implants will be included with the implant in future and will only be used for submerged healing. The implant is covered with a gingiva former for transgingival healing or an abutment is placed immediately for immediate restoration.
The implant shuttle for security in handling
The new DENTSPLY Friadent package design makes removal of the implant easy and ensures maximum security at every stage of treatment. The newly designed implant shuttle can be transferred from the assistant to the implantologist easily and without contacting the implant. The special, easily handled plastic holder for the implant provides complete protection. The ergonomic design of the shuttle makes it easy for the implantologist to remove the implant with the insertion instrument. The shuttle is sterile-sealed in a double blister package for maximum security at every stage of treatment – as required by the increasingly rigid regulations for packaging medical devices.
The optional indexing
The newly developed ANKYLOS C/X gives the implantologist the choice of using the taper only or using indexing as well. The abutment is indexed. The dentist can decide at the start of the procedure whether to use the TissueCare Connection in any desired position or with the index. The indexing makes it easy for the implantologist to place the abutment in one of six positions and dispense with the transfer tray. The keyed and friction-locked tapered connection provides optimum stability and rotation-locking for both options.
A progressive thread for accurate force transfer
The progressive thread design of the ANKYLOS implants, unchanged for 20 years of clinical use, is ideally designed for the structure of the bone. The thread depth, which increases towards the apex of the implant, transfers the loads to the softer, more flexible cancellous bone. The arc profile of the threads transfers lateral forces into the bone. These two factors contribute to reducing the stress on the cortical bone and ensure crestal bone retention.
Microstructure promotes ankylotic healing
ANKYLOS C/X implants have the clinically prove, growth-activating FRIADENT Plus surface to ensure therapeutic success. The microstructure promotes the deposition of bone-forming cells. The formation of new bone is promoted by the fast formation of a dense fibrin network – and the implants heal faster and remain more stable.
