DENTSPLY Friadent is presenting the first available CAD/CAM-milled superstructures for partially edentulous and edentulous jaws at the IDS in Cologne. With the new computer-controlled DENTSPLY CAD/CAM milling technology dentures fit perfectly on ANKYLOS, XiVE and FRIALIT implants at the first trial fit. This eliminates time involved in rework by dental laboratories and saves patients additional appointments for fitting dentures.

Close cooperation between laboratory and CAD/CAM center ensures accuracy and esthetics
The new DENTSPLY CAD/CAM technology (Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Manufacturing) enables computer-controlled design and computer-controlled fabrication of bridge frameworks and bars by milling technology. Even complex bridges and bar constructions on six and more implants are fabricated totally without tension with the new computer-controlled milling process. It is no longer necessary to segment large spans. The DENTSPLY CAD/CAM center accurately scans all coordinates of the cast and tooth position. The data are used to create a patient-specific design for the superstructure on the computer. The laboratory is integrated online in the design phase: individual requirements or corrections can be integrated, because the CAD/CAM center prepares a customized milling strategy and starts the milling process only after the laboratory has approved the design. The advantage: the computer-controlled milling provides a high degree of accuracy and eliminates the complex rework stages that accompany casting methods. The particularly smooth and homogenous metal structures are fabricated at gingival level using the prefabricated implant-abutment connection. The metal structure of removable solutions is always perfectly integrated with the computer-guided planning. With the optimum design of the bridge frameworks the dental laboratory achieves a brilliant esthetic result, with satisfied patients and dentists. The cooperation with the DENTSPLY CAD/CAM center gives laboratories the option of expanding their range of services to include wide-span solutions that fit without tension at the first trial fit.

Predictability for all involved
Because the bars for removable prostheses and screw-retained bridge constructions fit without tension the first time, additional appointments for trial fittings are no longer required. The high degree of security in planning, the excellent esthetic results and the reduced treatment time offer significant advantages to patients compared to conventionally fabricated prosthetic work. The dental laboratory can plan their time and financial outlays far better: the laboratory receives the milled constructions at the fixed price and repeated reworking and additional patient appointments at the dental practice are not necessary.
