Dr. Martin Groten, new Director Clinical Research and Education

Effective July 1, 2010, Martin Groten (45) has been appointed the new Director of the Clinical Research and Education (CRE) department at DENTSPLY Friadent in Mannheim. The dentist with a habilitation degree is now responsible for the complete range of clinical research and education conducted by the supplier of implant solutions to the world. He is director of the CRE department, consisting of Clinical Research, Clinical Education and Clinical Affairs. The most important part of his work will be the management of studies and scientific work to document the successful application of the implant systems supplied by DENTSPLY Friadent along with scientific confirmation of associated clinical concepts and topics to provide optimum support and maximum security for users. Dr. Groten is a member of the Management Committee of DENTSPLY Friadent and as such will be reporting directly to managing director Dr. Werner Groll.

Martin Groten was most recently a senior physician in a hospital and outpatient clinic with responsibility for research, teaching and patient care at the center for dental, oral and orthodontic medicine at the University Hospital of Tübingen. His main research areas were clinical studies and clinical trials, full-ceramic systems, modern materials and new technologies in clinical applications and also clinical implantology and implant prosthetics. The experienced practitioner and scientist has also been a moderator at numerous national and international specialist conferences and is on the faculty of the medical school at the University of Tübingen. Martin Groten was formerly a dentist and scientific associate at the teaching hospital for dental prosthetics with propedeutics in Tübingen. He studied dentistry and completed his state examination in 1993 and was awarded his doctorate as a Dr. med. dent. in 1998. In 2009 he was awarded his habilitation degree in the field of dental prosthetics at the Eberhard-Karls University in Tübingen.

Dr. Groten describes his mission in his new function at DENTSPLY Friadent as follows: "The supplier of implant solutions guarantees users and patients high-performance implant systems and successful therapy concepts based on many years of clinical experience and comprehensive scientific results derived from sustainable research activities and the continuing development of high-quality products."
