They feel like your "second teeth": stable prostheses with immediate and delayed restoration

08-16-2010 | ANKYLOS SynCone with new components

ANKYLOS SynCone makes your third set of teeth feel like the second set. New components have been added to this patient-friendly restoration concept for immediate and late restoration to simplify the system even more for users. The new 5° abutments with additional angles of 7.5°, 22.5° and 30° provide ideal retention and make it easier to set the restoration parallel. The taper caps are now available not only with retention but also in forms without retention for cementing  into metal frameworks. In the taper caps with retention the retention ring is flattened to simplify incorporation into delicate prostheses. ANYKLOS SynCone is an exciting concept: the surgical procedure and prosthetic restoration can be completed in about two hours. The procedure is standardized and the components are prefabricated, thereby greatly reducing the work and time required in the dental practice and laboratory. Users now have the option of offering their patients an economical and very comfortable treatment concept with the wearing comfort and seating of a permanently anchored bridge, but which can be removed easily for cleaning and thereby meets all the hygienic requirements of the patient.

The new abutments with 5° tapered angle provide ideal retention of the prosthesis. Patients can feel secure in every situation. The prosthesis is seated as firmly as an anchored bridge, but can still be removed for cleaning. This is ensured by the special tapered design of the prosthetic retaining elements, because ANKYLOS SynCone transfers the stability pf the tapered abutment connection, which has been clinically proven for years, to the connection between the abutment and the prosthesis. The angulations of 7.5°, 22.5° and 30° available for the 5° abutment provide additional options to the existing 0° and 15° angles. Where implants are placed non-parallel the angled ANKYLOS SynCone abutments can be used to adapt to the insertion direction, because the non-indexed abutments can be positioned over a range of 360°. The new 7.5° angled abutments provide an intermediate position between 0° and 15° to ensure exact alignment for a common insertion direction in the mandible. The new 22.5° and 30° angled abutments have extended the indication, primarily in the maxilla. All angles are available in three gingival heights (1.5 – 3.0 – 4.5 mm). To simplify alignment of the abutment even more, the positioning key available in the ANKYLOS Standard prosthetic system can now be placed in a new shaft on the parallel gauge. A new cover screw has also been designed for the straight abutment, which makes closure of the screw channel easier. The spiritual father of ANKYLOS SynCone, Dr. Dittmar May of Lünen, has already had some experience with the new components: "Use of the new abutments makes removal of the prosthesis much simpler. My patients, even the very old ones, can maintain their daily oral hygiene routine without difficulty."

ANKYLOS SynCone: Suitable for immediate and late restoration
With an immediate restoration, the ANKYLOS SynCone abutments offer fast and economical interforaminal restoration of the edentulous mandible with an immediately loaded prosthesis on four prefabricated tapered abutments. The minimally invasive treatment makes it possible to deliver the prosthesis during the anesthetic phase. When a late restoration is preferred, the abutments act as a prefabricated retaining element for prostheses in the mandible and maxilla. All abutments have a prefabricated groove in the head region for transfer of the abutments from model situation to the mouth with transfer keys. The intraoral cementing of the components ensures a tension-free seating (passive fit) for the prosthesis.

ANKYLOS SynCone therapy concept
ANKYLOS SynCone is a very economical and convenient treatment concept for the edentulous jaw using implant-supported, removable prostheses, with the seating and the wearing comfort of a fixed bridge.
